About the Research
This research project explores the relationship between Buddhist mindfulness practices and inner transformation in contemporary society. The study particularly focuses on the teachings found in the Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna Sutta and their application to modern psychological, ethical, and spiritual development.
The purpose of this research is to investigate how mindfulness, awareness, and contemplative practices can contribute to personal growth, emotional balance, and a deeper understanding of human experience. In recent decades, mindfulness has gained global attention not only within religious contexts but also in education, psychology, healthcare, and social well-being. However, many modern interpretations of mindfulness differ significantly from their original foundations in Buddhist teachings. This research therefore seeks to examine the authentic principles of mindfulness from a classical Buddhist perspective.
The study combines textual analysis, qualitative research methods, and interdisciplinary perspectives to examine both traditional Buddhist concepts and their contemporary relevance. Sources include selected passages from the Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna Sutta, academic literature, interviews, and participant reflections. The research also investigates key concepts such as impermanence (anicca), non-attachment, compassion, interdependence, and self-awareness.
By integrating Buddhist philosophy with contemporary human experience, this project aims to contribute to the fields of Buddhist Studies, mindfulness research, spirituality, and contemplative education. The research further seeks to encourage dialogue between ancient wisdom traditions and modern approaches to mental and emotional well-being.
